**Peak visual impact window: April–May spring flood**, when discharge rises to 35–60 m³/s, roar and spray are maximal, and sun-induced rainbow frequency is highest. **Ice curtain season** typically runs from roughly late December to late February, forming after 5–7 days of persistent sub-zero temperatures. **SAFETY CRITICAL:** never approach the ice curtain by walking on the frozen river surface — ice thickness is irregular over the plunge pool, currents remain active underneath. Confine yourself to the purpose-built boardwalks and platforms.

However, the lower riverside trails include steps, cobbles and potentially slippery sections — we do not recommend them for strollers, mobility scooters or wheelchairs. Stick to the top platform circuit if accessibility is a concern.

For legitimate camping use the official RMK-designated sites inside Lahemaa National Park (≈ 20–35 minutes further east by road). **Picnicking and fires:** cold or insulated ready-to-eat food may be consumed on the designated picnic lawn. **ANY open flame, campfire, charcoal BBQ, alcohol stove or disposable BBQ is PROHIBITED** throughout the protected landscape; violations may trigger administrative fines under § 67 of the Estonian Nature Conservation Act.
